On May 21st, 2007 Llamawerx launched a redesigned website for the Triangle East Chapter of the Interior Design Society. The new layout features a crisp black look punctuated with colorful elements. A key goal was to simplify the navigation and “lead” the visitor where they want to go. “I’m a big fan of navigation that speaks directly to the visitor,” said Doug Griswold. “I’m looking for a designer… Tell me more… I want to join – phrases like those actively lead the visitor along.”

BuxTools, maker of the patented C-Clipper, approached Llamawerx to redevelop their website. Through a series of unfortunate events, the site had disappeared from the Internet. “When they contacted us, they had a domain name but nothing else. No way to access it, no passwords, no files… the site was gone.” said Doug Griswold, CEO of Llamawerx. “We made a few calls, did some web forensics and let them know we could salvage most of their previous content and pictures. And, if they wanted to freshen-up their site some, we would be happy to do that too.”
The result is a new website sporting a cleaner layout with less visual clutter. “I tend to think less-is-more,” explains Griswold. The underlying coding is slimmer too. “By hand coding our sites the bloat associated with many web design tools disappears. Using styles, standards and image optimization we routinely trim 50% off of the download size — and a smaller size directly reduces page load times.” Studies have shown web users are extremely fickle when it comes to webpage load delays. Some suggest a 4 second limit. Others more generously allow 15. “It comes down to your visitors’ attention span and how interested they are in your information. We’re not compulsive about it, but we follow a few patterns and if we see opportunities to improve the speed we do it.” explains Griswold.
The results? Within one day of taking the new site live, the first request for information about the C-Clipper came in.

Abloco Wireless Solutions, a solutions provider for video surveillance, remote access and wireless communication, approached Llamawerx to redevelop their website. In addition to engineering and business services, Abloco recently released iSpecto — an out-of-the-box wireless camera surveillance solution, delivering high quality, real-time video anywhere. The mission was to modernize the design, prominently feature iSpecto and lay the foundation for multiple languages.
Located in the Netherlands, Abloco does business throughout the European Union. Previously in Dutch, their message was not reaching their target audience. A decision was made to redesign the site in English and build in the ability to support other languages. In February, the English language version of the redesigned site launched with improved navigation and a strong emphasis on iSpecto.

]]>Over the past year, North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park gained worldwide attention in the M2M marketplace. First, Sony Ericsson sold their M2M business unit to Wavecom along with Wavecom’s decision to locate their American operations in RTP. And in September, Telit opened an office in Morrisville. “RTP has been a leader in wireless communications for years,” said Griswold. “Ericsson, Nortel, Qualcomm, they’re major players traditionally focused on human-to-human communications. Now we’re seeing a new set of companies focusing on the new growth segment – machine to machine communications.”
“By building relationships with hardware leaders, we’re looking to extend our software services to their clients,” said Griswold. “The market has some great ideas for this new generation of modules. Everyone’s learning to listen to their customers and remain focused on what they do best. We bring personal service, flexibility and experience to the table. Plus, we’re always on the lookout for opportunities our clients can exploit.”

]]>In 2006, North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park gained worldwide attention in the M2M industry. In June, Sony Ericsson sold their M2M business unit to Wavecom which decided to locate their American operations in RTP. And in September, Telit opened their US office in nearby Morrisville. “RTP has been a leader in wireless communications for years,” said Griswold. “Ericsson, Nortel, Qualcomm, they’re major players traditionally focused on human-to-human communications. Now we’re seeing a new set of companies focusing on the fastest growing segment of the wireless market – machine to machine communications.”
Industry watcher Juniper Research predicts the market for wireless-enabled machine to machine applications is entering a new growth phase with revenues set to grow from US$20 billion in 2006 to over US$44 billion by 2009 and US$74 billion by 2011; wireless operator NTT DoCoMo estimates that in 2010 only one in three of its customers will be a human being.
“By building relationships with hardware leaders, we’re looking to extend our software services to their clients,” said Griswold. “They’ve learned to listen to their customers and remain focused on what they do best. We can complement their hardware leadership with our software experience, personal service and flexibility – we’re always on the lookout for opportunities benefiting our clients.”

Donna Ebron, a dynamic motivator, speaker and coach, looked to Llamawerx to develop a website for her personal brand - the Ebron Success Plan. “I feel good, I look good, I am good,” is Ms. Ebron’s signature statement. At our first meeting, she passionately explained how she wanted to use the web to spread this message of personal responsibility and self-reliance.
Ms. Ebron’s mission is to empower individuals to become the best they can be by providing the knowledge and skills necessary to take control of one’s life and circumstances. Donna’s dream is for her audiences to live the lessons they learn and share the I feel good, I look good, I am good positive attitude with everyone they meet throughout their lifetime.

]]>“Llamawerx is incredibly happy to be working with Abloco. Not only are we excited about working with our first international client, but we’re really excited about iSpecto. By combining state-of-the-art components into a great package, I think they have an outstanding platform for creating video surveillance solutions,” said Llamawerx co-founder Doug Griswold.
Marcel Staaks of Abloco Wireless Solutions states, “Frankly, our current website doesn’t reflect our company’s core competency. We compete throughout Europe and a Dutch language site doesn’t reach as many clients as we would like. By partnering with Llamawerx, we will create a multi-lingual site capable of educating the community about iSpecto and our unique value proposition.”
The website is only the first step in the Abloco/Llamawerx relationship. According to Griswold, “Abloco’s roadmap calls for additional services in the iSpecto suite. In the future, we expect to work with Abloco to define and develop a web-based “dashboard” supporting the delivery of their services.” Once the product gains traction in Europe, Abloco plans to introduce it into the US market.
